New Cards, Some Thoughts, and POTD…

Hello All,

Well, I’m sure some of you were wondering when I would replace the previous cards that are sold out.  I have finally completed a design for the Congratulations card inspired by the spring all around us.  I have also created a new card for the upcoming Father’s Day.  I know I didn’t have a mother’s day card created for clients to purchase.  Though this is true I must say from my own mother’s response to her card I will probably use that card as a basis for next year’s card.  Not exactly like my mom’s, but there will be elements of it and I think people will enjoy this one.

Please take a look at the shopping area of Plum Expressions and purchase these great new cards.  I hope to have more as the month of May comes to a close.  Thank you again for all of the support.

As for keeping up with my blog, I definitely want to be more present here.  I also want to include new inspirational posts.  With this kick off of new cards, I will include some inspirational shots for you to gander at (Pictures Of The Day).

Small turtle captured at the Dow Wetlands.  Reminds me of Herbie, my childhood pet, but way smaller.

The main person on the Dow Wetlands field trip told us that this windmill was originally in the movie “Unforgiven”.  They bought it and brought it out to the wetlands.  Love that movie!  Love this windmill!

And now the finale in black and white!

I love black and white pictures.  You will see more.

Have a great week!

The first cards are always the hardest to let go of…

Well kiddos I had to say goodbye to two cards today.  It really hurts because they were two of my favorites, but the paper I use for them is no longer available to me.  So, I had to make a decision and so they were out.  I’m going to put up new ones soon, but it will be the new generation.

This is my last goodbye:

Take care.

Grateful

Well, I have been very busy getting different card orders done for a few new clients/friends.  The one great thing about opening up for business has been the support from my friends and family.  I am so thankful for all of the encouragement.  I hope to continue to create cards that people will enjoy.

I’m hoping to get a lot of work done on cards over this weekend.  I need some time to sit down and crank out different cards I have had ideas for.  One thing I like to do is sketch card ideas out in my sketchbook.  I feel better prepared when I sit down to do a new design when I have a “plan” written out.  One of my latest obsessions has been color.  It seems to have sprung up everywhere now that plants are in full bloom.  I want to capture these great bright colors in the newest batch of cards.

Here are examples in the past I took pictures of that sort of give you the idea of color:

Thanks for looking.

Inspiration at Target and Staples

So, I was around town yesterday buying things for the homestead and business.  I just happened to have my camera (hahhaha) and I took some pictures.  I wasn’t so sure about the policy of
Target so I took the pictures on the sly.

Found this tablecloth just lying around the card area and I loved the print.  Not sure if this is the best picture of what I saw, but it is pretty darn close.

The little gift bag with this great green and daisies made me want to use this color on my next layout/card.  Love daisies as you probably noticed by the Plum Expressions logo.

Love, love, love, color these days.  The gift wrap section at Target is so consumed by it.  Love the green/yellow/orange
stripped paper.

Found this little display at the back of the card section with little notebooks, frames, and bags using mulberry paper.  Love the light blue and yellow mix used.

Another favorite store at the moment is good ol’ Staples.  I’m contemplating buying something here that I’m not so sure about yet.  I’m still mulling it over.

I saw this display of a new line of desk things by Staples in that lovely shade of bright green that is popping up everywhere (Target).  Is it kismet?

I love bicycles.  I have taken a few pictures of bicycles and I’ve used one of my pictures to create a card in the past.  Maybe I will post that one here in the next entry.  Anyway, I just love them, especially the old school looking bikes.

Thank you for looking.

Very Inspired By What I See Around Me

Well, I’ve come to the realization that inspiration is truly everywhere.  On my way to my wonderful hair stylist I saw two trucks.  The trucks were huge and they each had logos on them.  I could see a card in using the scheme of the trucks logo as well as some color choices I’d like to use in the future.  I may go a little graphic in my cards in a bit just due to what I saw on Monday.  Beautiful colors that remind me of spring and text playfulness are now on my mind.  I have to share a few pictures that also have been inspiring me lately.

I took this photo in Sweden at the Botanical Gardens.  It still makes me smile.  To have such a clear picture of something helps with focus.  I’m hoping to continue my focus on making some eyepopping cards.

Take care.
